Who we are

Daniel Harper, CHFC®, CLU®Co-Founder and Principal

Daniel Harper, Co-Founder and Principal of Harbor & Pine Financial Group, LLC., was introduced to the financial services industry at an early age, when, as a thirteen-year old looking to invest the money he earned mowing lawns, an adviser helped him to buy shares of WorldCom, rather than the shares of Apple he had initially hoped to purchase. Though WorldCom ultimately went bankrupt and Apple ultimately went on to become, well, Apple, the experience did not turn Daniel off entirely to the financial services industry. Instead, it ignited a lifelong curiosity about investing, good financial decision-making, and how financial advisors can best bring value to their clients’ lives.

“It is my firm belief that advisors and clients fare best when each fully understands who the other is, what they value, what goals they have, and what kind of lives they ultimately want to lead. From this firm basis of shared understanding, a plan is formed—as well as a relationship—and transforms these visions into reality.”

Daniel serves business owners, farmers, union employees, and high net worth families. His areas of specialization include: Investment Solutions, Retirement Planning, Estate Planning, Business Solutions, and Insurance Design.

When he is not in the office, Daniel enjoys spending time with his wife Hannah and their two dogs, Maude and Clementine. An avid outdoorsman, Daniel can routinely be found snowboarding at Mt. Baker Ski Area, hiking on one of Whatcom County’s many trails, riding his bike, running, practicing yoga, or golfing. He also enjoys cooking, movies, music, and reading novels.

Jordan Ellis, CLU®, FSCP®Co-Founder and Principal

Jordan Ellis, Co-Founder and Principal of Harbor & Pine Financial Group, LLC., was introduced to the financial services industry as a young adult, when he was approached by a financial advisor who helped him get his first term life insurance policy. Through nearly a decade of working with his adviser he was introduced to income replacement protection, permanent life insurance planning, tax advantaged savings, and investment strategies. His eagerness to learn, coupled with his passion for education, drove him to share his saving, protection, and investing strategies with his friends and family. And, in 2019, he decided to make that passion his profession and become a financial advisor

“I grew up with parents that were both educators and have always had a proclivity to share ideas that I know could enrich the lives of the people around me. Financial education is something that I feel is lacking in our society. It’s my mission to make holistic financial planning, and professional financial advice, accessible to the 99% if Americans who need it the most.”

Jordan enjoys serving small business owners, solo entrepreneurs, state and federal employees, educators, young families, and retirees. His areas of specialization include: Protection Planning, Investment Strategies, Education Funding Solutions, Retirement Income Planning, Group Benefit Solutions, Estate and Legacy Planning.

A native Minnesotan, Jordan and his wife Megan have lived in Western Washington for 10+ years and love everything the PNW has to offer. When he is not in the office, Jordan can be found playing with his wife Megan and their two children, Willa and Hank; working in his yard; doing projects around the house with a toddler by his side; or helping his neighbors with projects of their own. A lifelong musician, Jordan enjoys playing drums or marimba. And he also tries to squeeze in as many early-bird golf rounds as possible throughout the year, so that he can get home early enough to have breakfast with his family.
